Size 20" x 30" Price $2850
The twisted silhouette of dead branches and trunk against an absolutely clear-blue sky make this dramatic painting a study of old and new. New growth abounds in the fringe between land and sea along Auckland's Mangemangeroa estuary.
This painting is block mounted.
Size 12" x 20" Price $900
Looking through the Eastbourne sand dunes towards the western hills and Mt Kaukau, a lone yacht struggles to find sufficient wind to fill it's sails.
Bits and pieces of scattered driftwood and twigs sit among the many footprints left in the sand by people accessing the beach.
Size 24" x 36" Price $4000
On "Cone" looking northeast across the Otekaieke River towards Mt David, the afternoon shadows impart a blue haze to the distant hills.
This area is west of Dansey's
Pass in the Kakanui Mountains, which is on the roadway from Duntroon in the
Waitaki Valley to Naseby - originally a stock route between Otekaieke and
Kyeburn Stations.
Size 16" x 30" Price $2400
This painting shows the North-eastern side of Mt Ruapehu and in particular the sheer snow face of the Mangatoetoenui Glacier.
The tussock grasses and sub-alpine scrub give the area a russet colouring evident in this mid-morning light.
"Hutt
River at Kaitoke"
Size 30" x 22" Price $2300
This very detailed painting captures the cool sunlight on the bush and river. The steepness of the surrounding hills prevents all but a little light through to the river with the stones disappearing into the dark green depths of the water.
The spot is used by many during the summer months for swimming and cooling down, as the current is gentle and safe.
The painting is "block-mounted" - the painting wraps around the edge of the frame and as such, it doesn't require framing.
Size 6" x 8" Price $500
A small study of flowers; Livingstone daisies over our garden path in the late afternoon.
Size 24" x 18" Price $1800
This painting captures the very low sunlight of an early morning on the base of the trunk of a conifer tree.
New saplings and the odd weed help cast shadows onto the carpet of needles and leaves. Old attacks are evident on the bark.
Block mounted with the painting wrapped around all edges.
Size 20" x 24" Price $2000
This is a study of the unpainted wall of a shed in the beautiful Te Rua Bay near Tory Channel in the Marlborough Sounds. The abundance of spider webs, dirt and cracked putty is apparent in the window and the vertical boards are showing signs of damp and moss.
Size 14" x 9" Price $800
Just a short trip from the DOC Visitors Centre at Farewell Spit.
Ttravelling down the sand-dunes in the 8 wheeler buggy to the waters edge, you can't go any further south on the West Coast side of the spit than this point .
This painting is at low tide looking straight out to the Tasman Sea.
Size 18" x 14" Price $1600
Nestled in the midst of central city dwellings on the Terrace in Wellington is this quaint little shed. Seriously lacking in any maintenance for many years it makes an ideal study for shadows, reflections and juxtaposed greens.
Size 32" x 24" Price $2900
The elements have reduced this old house to almost a skeleton; the interior linings are clearly visible as the cladding on most of the building has long disappeared and the verandah posts are falling one by one.
The clear blue sky is an uncomplicated backdrop to the detailed building.
This painting is not framed but has deep wrapped edges.
"Fishermans
bach at Flat Point"
Size 36" x 14" Price $ 2200
Set on the isthmus of Flat Point on the Wairarapa Coast, this fisherman's cottage is in good condition considering the location.
The painting conveys the
apparent loneliness many of the small bach's portray with washing flapping
and tangling in the breeze and the owner absent for the days fishing.
"Early
morning, Hutt River 2"
Size 14" x 10" Price $800
This painting is of the Hutt River, near Moonshine looking upstream.
It was painted during winter 2001 from some sketches made early in the morning. The chill in the air is evident by the amount of blue in the painting and the hint of morning mist on the stones on the other side of the river.
This painting is an enlarged portion of the similar sized portrait painting of similar colours titled "Early morning, Hutt River 1". They could be hung as a pair of paintings but are equally comfortable being separate.
"Abandoned
Barn, near Eketahuna"
Size 39" x 32" Price $4995
The Eketahuna district has an abundance of rural inspirational material for the artist. This derelict, deserted barn on the outskirts of the township is typical of many country locations with a backdrop stand of Macrocarpa, broken yard fences and a dilapidated farm building full of surprises. Many of the windows have been blocked up with corrugated iron and the roof has a number of patches.
This work is painted on a 4" (100mm) canvas block.
"Autumn,
Sunset Parade, Plimmerton"
Size 32" x 12" Price $2000
Looking into an autumn sun across the bay towards the Plimmerton Boating Club, the light and perspective provide an interesting partnership.
The lines of eroded rocks formed by waves and tides extend out into the sea and offer many rockpools to explore.
Size 48" x 24"
A commissioned painting hanging in a private collection.
This would be the most detailed, ambitious work that I have completed. The canvas size dictates careful attention to detail on each of the houses on the Mt Victoria hill behind while maintaining proportion and relative dimension of each of the buildings.
The cool blue of the water in the shadows contrasts with the warm peach colour of the new sand on the beach and the long shadows of the seats imparts the impression of early morning.

Size 18" x 11" Price $1000
Waitarere is one of the few places along the west coast of the lower North Island where you can get access onto the beach with a vehicle. This access allows many kilometers of beach to be reached up to the mouth of the Manatwatu River.
This painting captures one of many pieces of driftwood washed up onto the beach - presumably from the nearby Waitarere forest - at about midmorning.

Size 16" x 12"
This painting typifies many shed and garage windows; no wall linings, an accumulation of spiders webs, dead insects and dust and a missing pane of glass. The remaining panes have not been cleaned for a long time and the wild blackberry is inspecting the inside of the shed.
Much of this painting is a very deep red/brown (the inside wall of the shed). This accentuates the light outside and the dirt on the outside of the three windows and also permits use of lines of sunlight to emphasise the construction of the window frame.

"Shack in the midday sun, Wakefield,
Nelson"
Size 30" x 15" Price $2200
Sitting in the middle of a paddock of freshly cut hay, this study of a dilapidated shack is typical of many farm buildings around New Zealand.
The sheep and cattle have rubbed against the building and imparted an oil stain on the timber and patches of missing weatherboards have been replaced with corrugated iron.

Size 30" x 20" Price $3250
The sun gets lower in the sky as the inlet reaches low tide.
The shadows on the hills around the northern side of the inlet reflect in the calm water, as a lone yacht is about to turn to face the incoming tide,
Several mooring buoys
float quietly vacant.
